From Ice to Tulips: Midcalder Curling Club’s Memorable Day at Craggies
Midcalder Curling Club Gathering at Craggies: A Memorable Day On and Off the Ice
Midcalder Curling Club recently enjoyed a wonderful and well-attended gathering at Craggies Farming Deli and Café, combining great food, club business, and inspiring stories into a truly memorable occasion.
The venue once again proved to be an excellent choice. With its warm atmosphere and scenic surroundings, Craggies provided the perfect setting for members to relax and socialise. A particular highlight was the opportunity for members to explore and enjoy the vibrant Scottish Tulip Festival, adding a colourful and uplifting touch to the day.
Members were treated to a delicious selection of food, showcasing the café’s reputation for quality, locally sourced produce. The welcoming staff ensured everyone was well looked after, contributing to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout.
A standout moment of the gathering was a talk from Sophie Sinclair, who shared insights into her journey to the Olympic stage and her experiences competing at the highest level. Having started her curling journey at Midcalder Curling Club and gone on to represent Team GB at the 2026 Winter Olympics (Scottish Curling), her story was both inspiring and a proud reminder of the club’s strong roots in the sport.
The event also incorporated the club’s Annual General Meeting, giving members the opportunity to reflect on the past season and look ahead to the future. It was encouraging to see such strong engagement and continued enthusiasm for the club’s activities.
Following the AGM, Abigail Rennie presented trophies, chocolates, and commemorative mugs to members, recognising achievements and contributions over the past year. The presentations were warmly received and added a celebratory note to the day.
Events like this highlight what makes Midcalder Curling Club so special. Beyond the competition, it is the sense of community, shared experiences, and mutual support that truly define the club.
A big thank you goes to everyone who attended and contributed to such a successful event, as well as to the team at Craggies for their excellent hospitality. We look forward to many more enjoyable gatherings in the future.
