Young On Top Of Broom

 Graham Young moved to the top of the Midcalder Torphichen Broom's competition after defeating Stewart Barr in game two. It was Stewart Barr's team that had the better start leading 2-0 after three ends. Graham's team then moved into top gear by scoring two threes in the next two ends and with the three penalty points for Stewart Team having three players the game was over with Graham winning 9-2.

In the second match of the week, Basil Baird looked like he had the game under control, leading 3-0 after three ends. Alan Russell's team then leveled the match by winning the next two ends. The sixth end was blanked, so the match went down to the last end. Basil's last stone just slid through the house leaving Alan to draw to the four-foot to win the game. He did and Alan's team won the game 5-3.
