Basil Holds on to Take Daytime Chillers

 Basil Baird held off Livingston in the last game of Midcalder's Daytime Chillers League to take the title this season. Livingston had to win by more than five shots to take the title away from Basil and they held a slim 4-3 advantage at the halfway point in the match. Basil Baird's team fought back to lead 7-4 after six ends. Livingston had one last attempt by winning the last two ends but came up short as the match finished in a draw giving Basil Baird and his team of Christine Smellie, Harry Macpherson, and Kirsteen Sinclair the title.  

The second match of the week saw the bottom two teams playing against each other. Peebles got off to a good start by leading 4-1 at the halfway point. Robert Smellie closed the gap with a two in the fifth end. Peebles Curling Club held their nerve and won the last two ends for their first win of the league.
