Final Night Drama in the Torphichen Broom League

Torphichen Broom League – Final Night Report (Game 5)

Midcalder Curling Club – 2025/26 Season

The Torphichen Broom League reached its conclusion with Game 5 at Midcalder Curling Club, bringing an entertaining season to a close with three matches on the ice and the league title still to be decided.

Match A

David Baird 3 – 0 Basil Baird

In the opening game, David Baird’s rink secured a disciplined 3–0 win over Basil Baird. David picked up a single in the first end before adding a well-worked two in the third. With both teams trading blanks and tight defensive play through the middle ends, Basil struggled to generate scoring opportunities. David’s side controlled the head well and saw the game out comfortably to record the shutout.

Match B

Stewart Barr 12 – 5 Colin Howden

The highest scoring game of the evening saw Stewart Barr’s rink produce a strong performance to defeat league leaders Colin Howden 12–5. Barr opened with a big four in the first end and continued to build pressure with further scores through the middle of the game. Although Howden responded with a three and a two in separate ends, Barr’s side maintained control and added singles late on to secure a convincing win.

Despite the defeat, the result was not enough to dislodge Howden from top spot in the overall standings.

Match C

Ian Keron 5 – 2 Graham Young

Ian Keron finished the campaign with a solid 5–2 victory over Graham Young. Keron’s rink took an early lead with three in the second end and added a further two later in the match. Young battled hard and picked up a couple of singles, but could not close the gap as Keron’s team managed the final ends effectively.
