Douglas Wood Claims Cousland Cup After Final Round Victory

The Cousland Cup 2026 at the Midcalder Curling Club reached its conclusion with an exciting final round that saw Douglas Wood secure the trophy after maintaining his unbeaten record throughout the competition.

Wood Finishes Strong Against Rennie

Douglas Wood faced Abigail Rennie in the final round and produced a decisive early performance on the scoreboard. Wood’s rink picked up a big five-shot score in the second end, immediately putting Rennie under pressure.

Rennie’s team responded well and battled throughout the match, scoring in several ends to keep the game competitive. However, Wood continued to add to his tally with further scoring, eventually running out 9–8 winners in a closely contested finish.

The victory ensured Wood completed the competition with a perfect record and sealed the Cousland Cup title.

Ogilvie Edges Sinclair in Tight Contest

The second match of the evening saw Alan Ogilvie take on John Sinclair in another entertaining game.

Ogilvie built a steady lead with consistent scoring across several ends, while Sinclair responded with a strong three-shot score to stay in touch. Despite Sinclair’s efforts, Ogilvie held his advantage to claim a 9–5 victory, securing his first win of the competition.
