Nail Biting Finish To District Medal
Midcalder were hosts for this year District Medal and there opponents were Forfar Curling Club.
Team One for Midcalder were Stewart Barr, Graham Russell, Harry Macpherson and Jean Carruthers.
Team Two for Midcalder were Alan Russell, Andrew Brash, Harry Russell and Jim Wilson.
Both match's were very close games and the final result came down to the very last stone delivered.
Stewart's team held a one shot lead going into the last end but without last stone advantage, the Forfar skip made a raised take out with his last shot to lie three and win the game 8-6.
Alan's team also held the lead going into the last end, but also without the last stone advantage the Forfar skip had a draw to the four foot for a two and to tie the match. Unfortunately for the Forfar skip his last shot drew through the four foot circle leaving Forfar lying just one shot and Midcalder held on to win 5-4.
With one win each, the medal would be decided by the team who won the most ends. Stewart's team won four ends to three, while Alan's team had three ends each with one blank end.
The meant Midcalder were the winners with seven ends to six overall.
