James Makes Winning Return to Curling

Midcalder Curling Club got their season underway with the Brydie Bonspiel. A great opening competition saw two closely fought games. 

In the first match, Christine Hamilton's team held a two-point lead after four ends over Graham Wood. Christine's team then increased their lead to four points after the fifth end. Graham's team replied by winning the last three ends and the game 10-9. 

 

The second match saw Stewart Barr build up a 6-2 lead at the halfway point in the match. The game turned in the fifth end when James Baird's team scored a five to take the lead. Stewart's team then scored a single to tie the match going into the last end. In the end, James's team scored a three and won the match 10-7. The win gave James Baird and his team of Graham Young, Christine Smillie, and Jennifer Russell win the Bridie Bonspiel with +3 shots. 

Graham Wood and his team of Douglas Wood, Lesley Barr, and Kirsteen Sinclair finished second and won the R.O. Howden Shield.
