Midcalder Curling Club commenced its season with the Brydie Bonspiel, where four teams competed for the first silverware of the year.


On sheet one, Christine Hamilton's team faced Colin Howden's team. They traded the first four ends, with Colin's team holding a 5-2 lead at the halfway point. Colin's team then stole a single in the fifth end. Christine's team responded by scoring two singles, narrowing the gap. However, Colin's team secured a single in the final end, winning the match 7-4 and finishing with a plus-three shot advantage.


On sheet two, Scott Baird's team played Stewart Barr's team. Stewart's team scored two in the opening end, but Scott's team then won the next four ends to lead 6-2. Although Stewart's team won the final three ends, it wasn't enough, and Scott's team won 6-5, finishing with a plus-one shot advantage.


The Brydie Bonspiel was ultimately won by Colin Howden and his team, comprising Basil Baird, Douglas Wood, and Anne Baird, who finished with a plus-three shot advantage.

Scott Baird and his team of James Baird, Alison Wood and Lynne McEwen won the R.O. Howden Shield for being Runners up.
