Torphichen Broom Season Kicks Off with Convincing Wins
The opening week of this season's Torphichen Broom competition got off to an emphatic start, with three decisive victories setting the tone for the season ahead.
In the first game, Basil Baird’s team stormed out of the blocks, taking the first three ends to establish a commanding 7-0 lead. After a blank fourth end, Stewart Barr’s side finally got on the scoreboard with a two, but Basil’s team closed out the contest strongly, taking the final two ends to secure a 13-2 triumph.
The next match saw Ian Keron’s team dominate early, racing to a 7-0 advantage by the halfway stage. Despite a blank fifth end, David Baird’s team rallied to take the last two ends, but it wasn’t enough as Ian’s team held on for a 9-7 victory.
The final game of the evening was a showcase of precision and control from Colin Howden’s team against Graham Young’s rink. Colin’s side quickly took control, scoring two in the first end and following up with one, three, four, one, and a final single to run out 12-0 winners, leaving their opponents scoreless.
With such commanding displays, the season has started with a flourish, promising an exciting campaign for Torphichen Broom fans.
