Match summary Game 1

Graham Young secured a 6–4 victory over David Baird in a closely contested eight-end match on Sheet 1.

Baird made a positive start, scoring in the first end, and continued to apply pressure with single points in the third and fourth ends. Young responded well, picking up points in the second and fifth ends before producing a decisive two-point sixth end to take the lead.

The seventh end proved crucial, with Young scoring another two points to extend the advantage. Baird managed one point in the final end, but it was not enough to overturn the deficit, and Young claimed a hard-fought win.

Match summary Game 2

Laura Nisbet delivered an impressive performance to defeat Douglas Wood 9–3 on Sheet 2.

Nisbet got off to an excellent start, scoring three points in the opening end. Wood responded with a single point in the second, but Nisbet quickly regained control with a dominant four-point third end, building a commanding 7–1 lead.

A further point in the fourth end and another in the fifth extended Nisbet's advantage to 9–1. Wood showed some resilience by scoring singles in the sixth and seventh ends, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. The eighth end was blank, confirming Nisbet's comprehensive six-point victory.
