Midcalder's Swan Song

Congratulations to the two Midcalder team's who won the Swan trophy at Murrayfield Ice Rink.
The team's were Stewart Barr, Basil Baird, Andrew Brash and Lesley Barr in team one. Alan Russell, Graham Young, John Baird and Scott Baird in team two.

The semi final was played against Haddington Curling Club with Midcalder winning 21-6 overall. Stewart's team winning 13-2 and Alan's team winning 8-4.

The final was a very close contest with Currie and Balerno Curling Club. Going into the last end Midcalder held a  one point lead overall. Stewart took a two in the last end for a 8-3 victory, meanwhile Alan stole a two in there last end to draw there game 5-5. This gave Midcalder 13-8 win overall and third time in the last 12 years they have won the Swan Trophy and nine times in total. The Swan Trophy is believed to be one of the oldest annually played tournaments in the world of curling first played in 1912.

Midcalder Curling Club would like to thank John Swan Limited for there continued sponsorship of the competition, Murrayfield Curling and all of there staff for hosting and organising the competition and of course all the other clubs for taking part in the competition.
