Buchanan Quaich Pairs Competition
Well it was another exciting Midcalder pairs competition again this year. Nine teams played two five end games over three sessions.
Stewart Barr & Claire Darragh lead session one with +8 shots, But there title hopes ended when they lost there second game in session two with a 7-3 loss to Alan Russell & George Sinclair. James Baird and Basil Baird Jnr. were the leaders after session two on +8. They came back from 5-0 down against Graham Young & Rebecca Baird in there first game to win it 7-5 and then won there second game 8-2 over Alan Crawford and Alan Graham. Scott Baird & Harry Russell were in second place after the second session after 5-3 win over Andrew Brash & Jean Carruthers and 7-3 win over David Baird & Graham Wood, giving them a total of +6. In Session three Alan Russell and George Sinclair hopes faded when they lost a four in the second end, they recovered to draw the game five all against John Sinclair & Sophie Sinclair, but finished on +4. David Baird & Graham Wood stormed back after losing there first game 7-3. They were winning 9-1 against Andrew Brash & Jean Carruthers after 4 ends. Still needing a big end to win, they lost a three in the last end to finish on +1.
