Midcalder gave good account of themselves at this years Murrayfield Champions of Champions (Jackson Trophy) after losing out in the final. The team were Alan Russell, Graham Young, Andrew Brash and Jean Brash.
In the semi final game they were up against DAFS and it turned out to be a very close game. The game was tied at four all going into the last end, with Midcalder having last stone advantage. In the last end DAFS had to take out the Midcalder stone lying on top of the four foot to lie shot, but there stone slipped passed the Midcalder stone and the game was over.
In the final, Midcalder were up against the Barbarians and after a promising start where they won the first two ends to lead 2-0, but they were dealt a blow when they lost a five in the third end. They tried hard to get back into the match, but found themselves 7-4 down playing the eighth and final end. They worked hard in the last end to get the three shots they needed but were eventually ran out of shots by the Barbarians.
