All Smiles At Stranraer Curling Weekend
It was another fun packed and successful trip for Midcalder Curling Club at this years Stranraer Curling Weekend.
In group one for Midcalder Curling Club was Alan Russell's team of Andrew Brash, Jean Brash and Jennifer McEwen. They got good start when they came from behind to win their first game, but were undone in their second game after losing the lead in the second half of the game. They finished with a win, but failed to qualify for the semi final on two wins and 4th place in the group.
Group two had two Midcalder Teams in it. Graham Woods Team of Harry Macpherson, Jean Carruthers and Lynne McEwen played well in the first two games, but were unable to find a win. They managed a win in their last game to finish on one win and 4th place in their group.
But the stars of the show for Midcalder were Bob Smellie's Team of Christine Hamilton, Christine Smiellie and Harry Russell in group two. They won their group with three wins out of three to play the runner's up of group one.
In the semi final they got off to a great start after storming into the lead after winning a four in the first end and a two in the second end to end up 8-2 winners.
The final saw another great performance from Bob's team as they kept their nerve to win 7-3.
