Graham Wins Brydie
Midcalder Curling Club held their first bonspiel of the season. The Brydie Bonspiel was played as a 2x2x2x2 where each player in the team has two ends to skip the game.
The first game saw Basil Baird lead 3-2 at the halfway point in the game. His opponent Bob Smellie responded with a single in the fifth end followed by a 5 in the sixth end. Basil won the last two ends, but it was not enough as Bob held on to win the game 8-7.
In the second game, Graham Young stormed into 6-3 lead at the halfway point and then doubled his score with a six in the fifth end. Bob Graham won the last two ends but was not enough as Graham won the game 12-5.
The final game saw Alan Russell hold a 1 point lead over Callum Wood after four ends. Two more 2's increased Alan's lead before Callum scored a single in the last end for the final score to be 10-6.
Congratulations to Graham Young, Graham Wood, Abigail Rennie and Anne Baird for winning the Brydie Bonspiel with a +7 score.
Alan Russell, Alan Graham, Harry Macpherson and Lynne McEwen finished second with +4.
And Bob Smellie, Christine Smellie, Ewan Barr and Andrew Brash finished third on +1.
