Ewan's Team Hold Nerve To Win Brydie Bonspiel
Midcalder Curling Club held there Brydie Bonspiel at Curl Edinburgh. The competition is the 2x2x2x2 format where each player has a turn of skipping.
Two teams were tied going into the last end of the competition. Ewan Barr's team was up against Jean Carruthers on sheet 1. Ewan's team got off to a great start leading 10-1 after six ends. Jean's team then closed the gap with a 3 in the seventh end. Ewan's team drew the button with there last shot to win the match 11-4 overall.
Sheet 2 saw Basil Baird up against Alan Graham. The teams were tied at four allay the halfway point. Alan's team finished the game off the best by winning the last two ends to win the game 6-4.
The last game of the competition was on sheet 3 where Anne Keron was up against Anne Baird. A 6 in the second end for Anne Keron's team got them off to a great start. Anne Baird's team closed the gap with a 3 in the fourth end
to make the score 7-4. Anne Keron's team then pulled away again leading by 6 going into the last end. Anne Baird's spoiled the party by scoring a 3 in the last end for the game to finish 10-7 in Anne Keron's favor.
The results left Ewan Barr's team of Jim Wilson, Alan Russell and Tommy Fairburn on top with plus 7 shots to win the Brydie Bonspiel.
