Last Minute Drama In Broom

The last game of the round-robin stage of this season's Torphichen Broom competition didn't have any drama on the ice but did have some later on.

The top two teams were in action in the first game of the week and Graham Young's team got off to a good start scoring two's in the first two ends. Basil Baird's team got on the scorecard with a single in the fourth end only to concede a three and the game in the next end giving Graham a 7-1 victory and a place in the final.

The second match of the week saw Alan Russell's team score a single in the first end before Stewart Barr's team responded with a six in the second end. Alan's team then won the next three ends to close the gap to one shot and with no team was able to finish the game off as the last three ends were blanked.

Initially, Basil Baird's team had looked to have earned their place in the final by shot difference as three teams finished on two points, but it was brought up that in game one Stewart Barr's team hadn't added three penalty points for Basil Barid's team only having three players. Both skips had agreed but hadn't put it onto the scorecard. This all meant that Alan Russell's team had now earned a place in the final by shot difference and will play Graham Young's team in the final. Basil Baird will now play Stewart Barr's team in the three verses four-game.
