Fun and Games at Stranraer

It was the Midcalder time for Stranraer

And a motley of members met there

The first meeting was held in the rink bar

The Brashes were set in the chair.

The next meeting was held in the lounge bar

But now there had been a great change

All dressed up and looking like stars

The pink tie was decidedly strange.

You could say they put on a good face

In truth, some were better than most

The masks were worn with great grace

And Great Grace was the one looking lost.

We proceeded to the first of the games

With dice, and parcels and fun

A six brought a great prize to your place

Prizes that were destined to stun

As for dinner it was just first class

The setting , the company and the food,

Some wine found its way to the glass

I can assure you, it really was good.

But “what of the curling” you cry

Ah, that came round the next day

Some won, some lost by and by

And some shots just went astray.

But for the team of Smellie and Co

Only wins were found on their card

And into the finals they would go

The games were going to be hard

But hard or not, they did grand

They drew, and they hit, and laid guards

No team against them could stand

Jean, Christine,Bob, Rhory all starred

“Well done” we hear you all say

“Well played “, better to just keep it simple,

For now they will have another day
