Basil Draws On Experience To Win Brydie

Midcalder Curling Club got their season underway with the Brydie Bonspiel. There were some very close games all round this year and it was Basil Baird and his team of Andrew Brash, Christine Smellie and Harry Russell who held their nerves to win the Bonspiel. Lying four shots against them with one shot to come, Basil drew the button, to take one shot and finish on plus six shots. John Baird and his team of Richard Brown, Jim Wilson and Ewan Barr won the Howden Shield for coming runner-up in the Bonspiel. A strong finish from them, saw them pick up five shots in the last two ends to take the shield.
