District Medal Success

District medal game against Port Glasgow was played on Friday 25 March, 2030, in Braehead.  Both games were very tight and came down to last end, last stone. Team 1 (Harry Macpherson, John Sinclair, John Baird and Scott Baird) went down by one shot 6 -5. Team 2 (Jean Brash, Jim Wilson, Andrew Brash, Basil Baird ) was down by one shot at the last end with the hammer. While they lay one shot,  they were covered by a triangle of opposition stones at the top of the 4 -foot. Port Glasgow just missed removing the Mid Calder shot stone. It now came down to Basil with last stone. As all the other games had ended (2230)  there was a hushed silence as Basil attempted an angled raise on a stone outside the house, past the 3 opposition stones and into the 4-foot.  Good shot, good calling and good sweeping did the job to win the game by 2 shots. . Mid Calder win on aggregate score by one shot.
