Stewart Makes The Four-most to Win Interclub
Midcalder Curling Club held the Interclub competition at the weekend. All matches were very competitive games with lots of twists and turn in all of the matches.
The first game was Midcalder One of L Barr, A Brash, S Baird and L McEwen verses Corstorphine Curling Club. The game was very close with the teams tied at 2-2 after four ends. The wheels came off the Midclader team when the Corstorphine team won the last four ends to win the match 8-2.
The second match was Midcalder Two of S Barr, C Hamilton, A Graham, and J Wilson versus Gogar Park Curling Club.
The Midcalder team found themselves level at 4-4 after four ends despite only winning one end. The Midcalder team made the most of there opportunities when they won two of the last three ends with fours again and this gave Midcalder a 12-5 win.
The final match was Midcalder Three of I Keron, A Russell, A Crawford and J Brash versus Yester Curling Club. The Midcalder team held a 4-2 lead after four ends before Yester won the next two ends to level the match going into the last end. Both teams gave it them all in the last end but it was the Midcalder team that came out on top when they scored a six to win the game 10-4.
The three winning teams were only separated by one shot and it was the Midcalder Two team of Stewart Barr, Christine Hamilton, Alan Graham and Jim Wilson that came out on top with plus seven points. Runners up were the Corstorphine Curling Club of N Wilson, S Easson, C Benzie and R Craig who finished on plus six with six ends won. Third place was Midcalder Team of Ian Keron, Alan Russell, Alan Crawford and Jean Brash who finished on plus six with three ends won.
