Midcalder Secure Promotion To Division One Of The Glenfarclas
Midcalder Curling Club will be returning to Division One of the Glenfarclas Mid Lothian Province League after defeating Oxenfoord Curling Club in the last league game of the season.
Playing for Midcalder on the night were Alan Russell, Graham Young, Scott Baird and Sophie Sinclair.
It was another close game with Oxenfoord and it was Midcalder that took the early lead in the match, before Oxenfoord took a three in the fourth end to lead 4-3. The match swung in Midcalder's favour at the fifth end when Alan played a twelve foot angled raise onto the button to out score the two Oxenfoord stones that were lying in the four foot circle. From this Midcalder stole two's in the last two ends to win the match 8-4.
This left Midcalder Curling Club top of the Glenfarclas Mid Lothian Province Division Two league with twelve points.
Midcalder will now play Duddingston Curling Club in the page play-offs on the 18th March at 5.30pm to see who are the champions.
