Everyone On The Move In Torphichen Broom

There was a lot of movement in the league this week in Midcalder Curling Clubs' Torphichen Broom Competition. Every single team moved a position in the league starting with the top two teams playing with each other. Graham Young's team made a late rally to beat league leaders Ewan Hamilton. After a close first half of the game, Ewan stretched out a 6-3 lead after five ends before losing a four and a single in the last end to lose the game 8-6. The win sees Graham jump to 1st in the league and Ewan falling to 3rd.
The bottom two teams were also up against each other. Stewart Barr got his points in the competition after defeating Bob Graham's team. Stewart built up an early lead, which they never lost in their 7-2 win. The win for Stewart sees him move up two places in the league to 4th and Bob's team slipped to the bottom of the league.
This left the middle two teams up against each other. In a game of two halves, Basil Baird's team won the first three ends of the game to lead 3-0, but then Alan Russell's team won the next three ends to lead 4-3 and with the last end getting blanked held on for the win. The win sees Alan move up to 2nd in the league and Basil drop one place to 5th.
