Callum Wins Cousland Cup
The final games of this season's Cousland Cup came down to four teams still in the hunt to win the title. Callum Wood held the upper hand with a one-point lead over Andrew Brash & John Sinclair and two points over John Baird.
Andrew Brash hopes of the title didn't get off to a great start when he lost a 4 in the first end against John Baird's team, they did take a single in the second end. From that point, Richard Brown skipping for absent John won the remaining five ends of the match to run out 12-1 winners.
John Sinclair also didn't get off to a great start after losing three singles in the first three ends against Christine Hamilton's team skipped by Jim Wilson. John did level the match in the third with a 3 before Jim took two 2's in the final three ends to win the match 7-4.
With the results going this way, Callum Wood's team needed a win or a draw over Graham Russell's team to win the Cousland Cup, but again it wasn't a good start for the higher ranked team after Graham won a 3 in the first end. Callum's team did bounce back when they won a 3 in the second followed by a 4 in the third to lead 7-3. The match was all but decided in the fourth end when Graham had a hit for a 4, but the shot hit one of his own stones leaving Callum's shot lying for shot. Callum won a 2 in the fifth before losing two singles in the last two ends but still won the match 10-5 to give him his first Cousland Cup.
Congratulations to Callum Wood, Alan Ogilvie, Alan Russell & Claire Darragh on winning the Cousland Cup.
