Basil Off to a Flyer in Chillers

 Midcalder Curling Club Chillers league got underway with five teams fighting it out to win this season. Basil Baird's team got off to a great start scoring two 2's & a 3 in the first four ends to lead 7-1. Their opponents Peebles curling club scored a 2 in the fifth end to reduce the lead. Basil Baird finished the match by winning the last three ends and win 18-3.

The second match was a much closer game but still, high scoring as Robert Smellie lead 7-4 over Christine Hamilton after four ends. Christine's team then went into the lead after scoring a 4 in the fifth only for Robert's team to score a 4 in the sixth end. Christine's team leveled the match off by winning the next two ends. The match went down to the ninth end and it was Robert's team that held their nerve as he scored a single in the last end to win the match 12-11.
