Laura Storms into Early Lead In Stoddart
Midcalder Curling Club got their season underway with the first game in this season's Stoddart Cup.
In the first game, Alan Ogilvie got off to a good start leading 4-1 over Stewart Barr after four ends. Stewart's team then scored a three to tie the match, before Alan's team went back into the lead with a two in the sixth end. Stewart's team had a strong finish winning the last two ends and the match 7-6.
Next up saw Laura Barr's team build up a big lead at the halfway point in their game against Alan Russell. Laura continued to push ahead by winning the last three ends and the match 13-2.
The final match had a final twist in the match. Graham Young's team stormed into a 7-0 lead after three ends. Basil Baird's team then won the next three ends to close the gap to 7-5, before Graham's team then scored a single in the seventh end. Basil Baird saved the best till last when they scored a seven in the last end to win the match 12-8.
