David Takes Broom Title

 Two points separated the top four teams going into the last game of the Torphichen Broom Competition with Basil Baird and David Baird tied at the top. 

Ian Keron held a slight advantage at the halfway point of their match against Douglas Sands leading 4-3. Douglas then scored a two in the fifth end to move back into the lead. Ian's team all but sealed the win with a four in the sixth end and with the last end being blanked Ian won the match 8-5.

Basil Baird held a two-shot advantage going into the last match and had a good start against Stewart Barr leading 3-2 at the halfway point. Stewart's team then came back to lead the game 5-3 after winning the sixth and seventh ends. Basil's team kept their title hopes alive when they scored a three in the last end to win the match 6-5.

David's team now had to win their last game by more than three shots to win the Broom, but it was Graham Young's team that got on the scoreboard first by stealing a single in the first end. The next two ends were blanked before David made a double takeout in the fourth end for a five. A two in the next end gave David breathing space and they finished the match off with a two in the last end to win the match 9-1 and take the Torphichen Broom Title.
