Midcalder Curling Club held
there annual Interclub Challenge Competition. This year's invited clubs were Penicuik Curling Club,
Dippool Curling Club and Bathgate Curling Club.
It was great to see the clubs come out and play in the annual contest, which see's the invited clubs to take on one of three Midcalder teams.
Midcalder One of Graham Young, Andrew Brash, Jean Brash and Alan Crawford were up against Penicuik Curling Club. This match swung both ways at various points in the game. Penicuik held a 8-2 lead after three ends in the match, but were pegged back by Midcalder who took a two in the last end to tie the match at nine all.
Midcalder Three of Ian Keron, Christine Hamilton, John Sinclair and Jim Wilson were up against
Bathgate Curling club. This match was also a close game with lots of shots in play in most ends, but it was Bathgate the held the upper hand in the match. There was no late comeback in this match for
Midcalder as Bathgate would run out 6-3 winners.
But it was
Midcalder Two that was making the headlines of the day. The team of Alan Russell, John Baird, Christine Smellie and Jean Carruthers were up against
Dippool Curling Club.
Midcalder were able to build up a strong lead after four ends and they just kept piling the pressure in the Dippool team as they ran out 15-3 winners to win the competition with the highest up shots.
Well done
Midcalder Two for winning the competition and hope the invited clubs will come back and try again to win the trophy.
