Scott Moves Past Subs To Go Top Of Cousland Cup
In a week where it seemed that most of the Midcalder members were playing in the Scottish Seniors Playdowns or watching football it was left to Scott Baird and his unchanged team to take advantage and go top of the league after defeating Andrew Brash's team. It was a close game with Scott making the most of last stone and ran out 8-3 winners.
In the second match of the day, both teams had subs and it was Lesley Barr's team that took advantage of this. In fact, it was John Sinclair's team that held a 3-2 lead after four ends before Lesley's team came through in a strong finish to win the game 9-3.
In the last game of the week, first week's giant killers Harry Russell was on the other end of a heavy defeat. Again, there were lots of subs in this match and with Christine Smellie standing in for Andrew Graham and it proved too strong for Harry Russell's stand in skip Callum Wood. Christine and her team ran out 12-1 winners.
