Brittish Heart Foundation Bonspiel

Once again a successful Brittish Heart Foundation Bonspiel was held, organised by Gordon Deans.

Fourteen teams take part from the clubs using Murrayfield Curling Rink.

Murrayfield transfers the ice fees to the BHF  raising £560. Raffle and donations accounted for another £340 making the total raised on the day, £900.

The Midcalder team of Jean Carruthers, Jim Wilson, Harry Macpherson and Stewart Barr was drawn against a Penicuik team of Linda Alexander, Tom Alexander, Jean Lennie and Walter Brown.

All went well in the early ends and Midcalder took a 6 - 1 lead. Penicuik then proceeded to turn on the style to lead 8 -6. All rested on the last end with a single, well-hidden,  Penicuik stone  in the house, as shot and Midcalder with 5 other stones.

Stewart attempted a difficult takeout. He did hit the Penicuik stone enough to move it out of shot position but not out of the house. Final score Midcalder 7 Penicuik 8.

However, neither team was in the hunt as winners of the Bonspiel as Pentland Ladies posted a score of 15 - 1.
