Big Scoring Opening Weekend In Torphichen Broom

The opening weekend of the Torphichen Broom competition turned out to be a high scoring affair with none other than the game of Stewart Barr versus Scott Baird where Stewart lost a 5 in the first end but then turned the game around to lead 10-5 after four ends. Scott's team didn't give up and had leveled the match back up by the sixth end but the match swung again in Stewart's favor when they won the last two ends to win the match 19-10.
Alan Russell made a good start against Bob Graham when they lead 5-0 after two ends before Bob closed the gap to 5-3. Alan's team pulled further ahead with a 2 in the sixth end and finished the match with a 4 in the last end to win the match 11-5.
Graham Young made a fast start in his game against Basil Baird when they lead 9-2 after five ends. Basil's team did fight back when they scored a 4 in the sixth end and then a 2 in the seventh end but they had run out of time as Graham's team hung on to win the match 9-8.
