Andrew Loses Unbeaten Run, But Still Wins Cousland
The top two teams in the Cousland Cup were up against each other and with Andrew Graham's team already wrapped up, the title Graham Russell spoiled Andrew's last game with a win over the champions. Graham's team held 4-3, lead after four ends and then stole a 5 in the fifth. Andrew's team did reply with a 2 in the sixth, but Graham team finished off the win with a 2 in the seventh for an 11-5 victory.
John Baird's team still had a chance to come second in the league if they won by four or more shots than Graham Russell's score and they got off to a great start with a 3 in the first end. Alan Ogilvie's team replied with a 3 in the second. The match, continued in this form as the next four ends were shared with 1 and 2's leaving John Baird's team to score a single in the last end and with three penalty points being added to John's team for a 10-6 victory over Alan.
This wasn't enough for John as Graham Russell finished second in the Cousland Cup.
This left the two bottom team up against each other and it was Christine Hamilton that got off to a great start as they went 4-0 up after two ends. Graham Young then won the next two ends to close the gap to one point. Christine pulled away again with a 2 in the fifth end before Graham's team won the last two ends to tie the match at six all.
