Russell Closes Season With Wardrop Win

Midcalder closed their club curling for the season with the Wardrop Cup  Bonspiel. Scoring for the bonspiel was to score each end as normal, then each team could score additional point for every two shots they have in the house including the winning shot.
The first game saw Alan Russell, Scott Baird, John Sinclair and Abigail Rennie take on Bob Graham, Jim Wilson, Alan Graham and Jean Brash. The game was close at the halfway​ point with Alan's team scoring five winning shots and two bonus, while Bob had scored one winning point and five bonus points to be one point behind. Alan's team took control of the game in the second half scoring four more winning shots and four bonus points while bobs team could only score two winning shots and one bonus point giving Alan's team an 14-9 victory.
The next game was Basil Baird, Andrew Brash, Lynne McEwen and Jean Carruthers take on Graham Young, Alan Ogilvie. This was another close game at the halfway​ point with Basil's team scoring two winning shots and three bonus points and Graham's team scoring four winning shots and two bonus points to lead by one point. The game continued close with Basil's team scoring one more winning shot and five bonus points while Graham scored two winning shots and five bonus points to give them a 13-11 win over Basil.
The last game was Ian Keron, Christine Smellie and Graham Wood take on John Baird, Christine Hamilton, George Sinclair and Alan Crawford. Ian held a five point lead at the halfway point with seven winning shots and seven bonus points while John had scored one winning shot and eight bonus points. The match turned in the second half with Ian's team scoring one winning point and four bonus points and Johns team scored three winning shots and seven bonus points to tie the match at 19-19.
