European Weekend Round-up
Busy weekend for Midcalder Curling Club members as they played their games at Perth, Olso and Dumfries.
Mhairi Baird was playing in the European Playdowns to see which team would represent Scotland at the European Championships. Playing in Team Gray, Mhairi made it all the way to the final where they played Team Muirhead. In a close final Mhairi's team just failed as they were defeated 7-6 in the final.
Over in Ejct Oslo Sophie Sinclair was playing with Team Aitken, where the team qualified for the knockout stages after finishing second in their group. They then won their quarter-final game against Team Westman (Sweden) 7-2. After a very close game in the semi-final, they were unable to beat Team Schmied (Switzerland) going down 5-3. They bounced back well winning the 3/4 playoff game against Team Gauchat (Switzerland) 9-3 to finish third overall.
Lastly, James and David Baird were playing in the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour at Dumfries. Playing with Team Whyte, the boys did well reaching the semi-finals where they played Bruce Mouat. In a very close game, it was Team Mouat that would win the match 5-3 to advance to the final.
