Midcalder Swan into Semi Final

Midcalder Curling Club were in action in the quarter final of the Swan Trophy against Haddington Curling Club. The two team competition saw Midcalder One of Stewart Barr,  Basil Baird,  Lesley Barr and John Sinclair take a early lead when they opened with a 2 in the first end,  followed by a single in the second end to lead 3-0. Haddington One then struck back with a 3 in the third end,  before Midcalder took the lead again with a 3 in fourth end.  The match went firmly in Midcalder's favour in the fifth end when they stole a 6 to lead 12-3. Haddington closed the gap by winning the next two ends before Midcalder finished the match off with a 2 in the last end to win the match 14-6.

Meanwhile Midcalder Two of Alan Russell, Ian Keron,  Graham Young and Scott Baird had a close game against Haddington Two and held a 2-1 lead after three ends.  Haddington struck back with a 3 in the fourth end to take the lead. Midcalder shared singles in the next two ends before a 4 in the seventh end took them back into the lead again and despite losing a single in the last end Midcalder hung on to win 7-6.

The combined scores saw Midcalder win 21-12 and advance to the semifinal of the Swan Trophy against East Linton Curling Club in January.
