Young Holds On To Win Stoddart Cup

Graham Young and his team of Lesley Barr, Harry Russell and Isabel Graham won the 2013 Stoddart Cup after holding off the competition on the final day.
Graham was playing John Baird's team skipped by Mhairi Baird on the night and most of the pressure was taken of in the second end when Graham team took a four. The following ends were closely contested, But it was Graham's team that held on to win the game and the league.
Bob Graham was hoping for Graham Young would slip up to give his team a chance to win the league and they certainly did everything they could on there half. Playing Stewart Barr on the night, Bob's team started off strong with a three in the first & third end and wasn't really troubled in the match as they won 11-4.
The win does see Bob's team of James Baird, Alan Ogilvie and David Meikle win the Stoddart Shield.
The final match on the day saw Graham Wood team play Basil Baird's team. Graham Wood also had a chance to win the league. They needed Graham Young to slip up and a big win. What he got was a very close game against Basil, where no team held more than a one point lead in the match. Both teams took point each in the game as we saw the first draw of the season.
