Midcalder Misfire In Mid Lothian Bonspiel
With Midcalder Curling Club winning the Midlothian Bonspiel in 2013 and runner-up in 2014, they were great hopes Midcalder would be in contention of winning again. But alas no! not this year anyway.
First up was John Baird, Christine Hamilton, Christine Smellie & Jean Carruthers for Midcalder and they were soundly beaten by Edinburgh Ladies 12-1.
Didn't get any better at the 2pm game for the Midcalder team of Basil Baird, Graham Wood, John Sinclair & Lesley Barr who lost to Penicuik 15-3.
It looked like all three Midcalder teams would see defeat, when Stewart Barr, Alan Russell, Scott Baird & Callum Wood were 7-2 down after five ends to Oxenfoored Curling Club. But back they came to give Midcalder some pride back by winning the last three ends to win the match 9-7.
